GOOD or BAD?
Oct. 20th, 2004 03:05 pmThis is something I used to do every so often on umta. It comes from The Brunching Shuttlecocks, and it's the ultimate way of determining merit.
Simple, right? Just decide whether the following things are GOOD or BAD. There's nothing in-between. No 'it depends'. You have to answer all questions--there's none of this 'informed opinion' nonsense here! In the final analysis, when all is said and done, all that matters is ... how do you vote?
[Poll #369685]
EDIT: So far, I want to know (a) how
ang_grr justifies her answer on the hamster question, and (b) how
cleanskies justifies her answer on the liquorice-with-salt question. Explanations invoking temporary insanity will be accepted.
SON OF EDIT: Those who have decided that praline Flake bars are bad are also suspect. Even without having tried one, it's clear they must be one of the nicest forms of confectionary in existence.
THE RESULTS
GOOD
Hamsters in giant robotic hamster-shaped battle suits (89.8% GOOD)
Clicky (78.3% GOOD)
Genres (69.5% GOOD)
Praline Flakes (61.0% GOOD)
Having lunch at 2:45pm (59.3% GOOD)
The Line of Truth
The new Doctor Who logo (54.4% BAD)
Liquorice (61.7% BAD)
Days when you achieve nothing (66.7% BAD)
The Line of Beauty winning the Booker Prize (67.9% BAD)
Liquorice covered in salt (88.3% BAD)
BAD
What we've got for you is a list of things that you may come across in your own life from time to time. We don't care what you think about these things, we want you to answer one simple question: are they good, or bad?
Keep in mind, these aren't shades of grey. When and if we shut down the voting, anything that ends up above the line is good, anything below is bad, forever and ever, deal.

Date: 2004-10-20 07:31 am (UTC)Well done to all those rightheaded when it came to the liquorice question.
However, I have never tried liquorice with salt, but it sounds terrible.
Having lunch at 2:45pm
What? That's not normal? *munches on sandwich*
Praline Flakes
I haven't had one, and am not that fond of praline, but Cadbury's Flake? Always GOOD. Unless they decide to make a Marmite Flake, which would be BAD.
Also, wrongheaded people? Clicky = GOOD. Okay?

Date: 2004-10-20 07:34 am (UTC)I can't believe I didn't think of this before.
However, I have never tried liquorice with salt, but it sounds terrible.
There I was, preparing to head home after a hard day's work. I take my mug down to the kitchen to wash it out, and on the counter is a bag of tempting-looking sweets. 'Ooh', I think, and pop one into my mouth.
Bad move. Bad, bad move.
This food is the work of the devil.

On the upside, it does make the afternoon very short.

Date: 2004-10-20 07:38 am (UTC)This is subject to interpretation; I voted BAD!, but I would consider a day not getting up properly but reading a book, playing computer games or watching something good on DVD/TV a day when I achieved something. Others may not consider such a day in the same light.
