Here are the books I bought today:

- 'Grass', by Sheri Tepper
- 'Flowers For Algernon', by Daniel Keyes
- 'Cities In Flight', by James Blish
- 'Man In The High Castle', by Philip K Dick
- 'Desolation Road', by Ian McDonald
- 'The Stone Raft', by Jose Saramago
- 'All The Names', by Jose Saramago
- 'Mortal Engines', by Philip Reeve
- 'The History Of The World In 10 And A Half Chapters', by Julian Barnes
- 'England, England', by Julian Barnes
- 'Life Of Pi', by Yann Martel
- 'Salamander', by Thomas Wharton
- 'Ghostwritten', by David Mitchell
- 'Worldmakers: SF adventures in terraforming ', edited by Gardner Dozois
- 'Supermen: Tales of the posthuman future', edited by Gardner Dozois
- 'The Mammoth Book Of Best New SF 15', edited by Gardner Dozois

....Plus street atlases for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey. And 'Light' the other day. And I need to buy at least one Jasper Fforde book before I leave...

Total cost: £114.70. That lot should keep me off the streets for a while, at least.

Well done. I recommend reading a paragraph from each every night before you go to bed. (Make that a page from each for the street atlases.) Not only will you not have to chose who gets to be top of the reading pile, you'll also get a fascinating insight into the relative lengths of different books.

...and possibly get utterly confused about which plot point belongs to which book. :)

I hope you got a staff discount on those.

That lot should keep me off the streets for a while, at least.

I love the idea that Niall, if not fully supplied with books, may begin roaming the streets bottle of cider in hand, in search of kicks and thrills.

You consumerist addict book whore you!

Oh well, it's an addiction I share. :-)

Do tell me what you think of 'Man in the High Castle' ... it's one of my favs, if for no other reason than doing alternate history so well. Great cynical comment on man vs. system too.

Ha, now that I've said all that, you don't need to read it do you! ;-p

Mea culpa
