After Eights are truely evil for their many-addictive powers and, running a seasonal second, are Creme (or is it Cream, I forget) Eggs.
Which, rather worryingly, seem to be arriving at work already.... (Christmas lines, i.e. advent calendars, started to appear sometime around late Sept/early October)
See, on an absolute scale I have to agree that creme eggs are nicer. But they don't have the same moreish factor. I do not, for example, feel the urge to eat whole packs of creme eggs in one sitting.
In fact, I have (ab)used this very fact in the past, when deeply poverty-stricken. Creme eggs: - don't cost too much, particularly if you buy in packs. - taste nice - are fun to eat - feel like treat - supply that sweeeeet sugar rush - absolutely stop you from wanting to eat anything else for some time, especially another Creme egg. As such, they constitute the ideal meal for the impoverished and lazy. Just make sure you clean your teeth.
I don't know what that anti-moreish property is, perhaps the way the residue coats your mouth for hours afterwards. You'd think that this would be a bad property for a product to have, as most (seemingly) go for the reverse: an after-taste just unpleasant enough to make you want more. I guess that Creme eggs, being sold as an individual unit, use different tactics to, for example, Maltesers.
Mmmmm... Maltesers. Those little round sluts. I can go through a box of Maltesers like a chainsaw through butter...
