- Ate the biggest breakfast ever.
- Went to a panel on 'character vs science in hard sf' and really regretted it. New rule: do not go to panels where over half the participants are both american and over 50.
- Manned the bsfa stall for an hour.
- Went to a very good panel about fantasy cities. There's a complementary panel about science fiction cities later in the weekend, which I'm looking forward to.
- Realised I was sitting in front of Kelly Link, Gavin Grant, Christopher Rowe and Gwenda Bond. Said hi and ended up chatting with them in the bar for an hour. They are all cool people. Unsurprisingly.
- Went to Chris Rowe's reading, which was great.
- Met Chance! Finally. Dragged her to Graham's panel on Chris Priest, then back to the bar, then to Call My Bluff, then lost her. D'oh.
- Went to the evening play, Lucas Back In Anger, which was fun but overlong.
- Went out for dinner. Excellent food, excellent company, excellent conversation.
- Checked out the room parties at the Hilton. Still not sure I quite get the room party thing.
- Tomorrow is day of doom: I'm on three programme items in one afternoon.

Room Party - it's a party! In a room!

(is there more to it than that?)

Aaaaah, the room parties that are trying to persuade people to vote for the next WorldCon hosters?

Well yes, of course _those_ room parties are political. There's a democratic system to subvert!

The only room parties I've been to are parties, in people's rooms, in aid of drink and conversation.

The anon_c party was officially awesome, so that's ok.

Definitely, you wouldn't want to go to a five-person panel where three of the participants were Chip Delany, Debbie Notkin, and Carol Emshwiller. Vicious attacks of cooties would ensue from exposure to such over-50, superseded, no-doubt right-wing and generally worthless individuals.

Why must you insist on complicating my simplistic prejudice with *facts*? :-P

There's probably a variation of the Python "I'm sorry, this is Abuse; Argument is down the hall" routine available here. Perhaps we should take it as read. :-)

Moderating but they would obviously be exceptions in any case...

Had to meet people for dinner after the call my bluff panel (which was awesome) ... then was in the bar for much quality time.
