On-site reporter just introduced an interviewee to the studio anchor: "now, this man is in shock, ask him some questions."

Folks in London, could you please check in?

EDIT: Bigger checking-in post in [livejournal.com profile] london_070705 here. Tentative timeline of events here. Thoughtful discussion here.

Not to be alarmist, but a Sky News producer just got out of Edgware, and claimed that on the walk over to Russell Square he saw a bus explode, convincing him that it's bomb-related. People have at least been getting out of the affected stations, though.

The BBC just had a map showing locations of explosions. They had some attributed to buses, some on the tube.

"Affected stations" appears to be the entire network.

Latest news is three bombs on buses. Entire tube network is shut.

This, my friend, is a fucking scary day.

Here. Barely. A little terrified to have been travelling there under an hour ago and to now be located right by London Bridge.

Yeah, I can imagine--saw your post. Glad you're ok.

I should be turning off the tv and going to work, but ... jeez. :-/

I'm glad I got in for 9am rather than my usual 9.30am. I take the train every day, but I think the whole of Liverpool Street station was shut down.

Bombs, power surges, who knows?

It's all very confused. Glad you're not caught up in it, though.

All fine.

Lat is driving into work (she's nuts, but someone has to help keep the BBC website up!) and Dad is at home with Mum and my Uncle from Australia (Mum's eldest brother). Crazy day. Crazy.

Here, right near Tavistock Square, listening to sirens, saying 'gulp' and resisting the macabre urge to go and gawk.

All rather shocking.

Would just like to point out that i am alive. I was still in bed when it all kicked off - i was woken up by a dawn chorus of police sirens roaring south.

I was supposed to be giving a talk to the institute this afternoon; i'd been worrying about it for months. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be cancelled quite like this.

Is G in London at the moment?

Holy shit.
I'm in Italy on me holidays. looks like everyone I know is alright, just very shaken. And I'm flying back tomorrow, should be fun trying to get through the centre of town.
BBC site is now saying that fatalities at Edgware Rd have been confirmed. It gets worse and worse doesn't it?

The situation right now is that London is pretty much at a standstill - the tubes are closed, buses in the centre aren't operating, and some roads are closed off too. We're being advised not to travel anywhere unless we have to. Mobiles are pretty much out of action at the moment, although some texts can get through and some networks are limping along.

Tom, Mark and me are all ok. Tom and I are both waiting to hear from a couple of friends.

At the house we can hear sirens echoing all the way from central London, which is at least a couple of miles away.

London actually seems pretty calm, despite the disruption. If the terrorists think they have inspired actual terror, they should think again. We're British, don't you know, we don't *do* panic.

Good news: it seems that Viagra spammers and Nigerian fraudsters of the world remain unaffected by these events. Thank fuck for that. :-p
