A web site primarily related to the fields of science fiction, fantasy or fandom and will be given for material displayed on the World Wide Web during the calendar year 2004.
(yep, that pesky ballot again)

Sites I visit regularly:
  • Locus Online excels at news coverage, but has posted some interesting commentary over the last year as well.

  • SCIFICTION is, in my opinion, currently the strongest SF magazine out there. But should the whole of SciFi.com count as one site?

  • Strange Horizons publishes good reviews and articles as well as interesting fiction.

  • The Alien Online is good for news and reviews. Note: I have reviewed for TAO.

  • The Internet Review of SF has had a bumpy couple of months, but on the whole published good and interesting material throughout the year. Note: I have copy-edited articles for them.

  • The SF Site is good, although sometimes I wish they'd beef up their TV coverage a little.

  • Aside from Locus, The Agony Column, as previously mentioned, is the best place to keep up with what's being published.
...and those are the main ones. Where do y'all hang out when you're not surfing LJ?

Oh, and since some people keep complaining about my icon...

Have to say that I don't use it much myself, although I know lots of people like it.

As with fan writer its a bit of tricky one because what criteria do you use? Those sites range from the genre's most presitigous market, bankrolled by a large company, to a one man band outfit.

But obviously I'm hoping for SF Site or TAO :)

I don't have time to do much other than check LJ and email when I get on the internet. A question though, do blog sites count in this category? Matt Cheney's The Mumpsimus, for example?

I assume they do, but because they're individual sites I'd be more inclined to nominate the writers than the sites.

I think the baby is plotting something. You can see the evil.

I've always loved Infinite Matrix, though I don't know if they have posted enough new content for me to nominate them.

Theses next couple are mainly writerly sites, but:

The Nightshade Discussion Boards
The Rumormill
Ralan's Market Listings
sff.net newsgroups

Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden's website also deserves a mention (and you get a twofer on their blogs this way.)

Another pair of places I visit are SFRevu and Fantastic Metropolis. I wouldn't nominate either but they are worth dropping by from time to time.

But look! It's smiling! And see how kind it is to the fluffy bunny?

I think you'll find the fluffy bunny is being forced to hand over a tribute of pretty flowers in payment for it's continued existence. That fluffy bunny is clearly terrified for it's life.

And I've seen that smile before. Usually on the face of someone stroking a fluffy white cat in an exaggerated manner whilst saying "Zo, ve meet again, Mizter Bohnd".

It's the embodiment of evil, I tells ya.

And, if I'm not mistaken, the space baby is raping an infant panda.
