I am reading this thread and crying. Crying tears of laughter, and of dorky joy. It's probably next to impossible to decipher if you haven't been following it develop, but the Rosetta comments, such as they are, are here and here.

Today I am going to, of all places, The Reform Club. I have to wear a suit.

The Reform Club is a private club (originally for gentlemen but they're letting Niall in anyway) that was started in the 1800s. Lots of famous people have been members and in Around The World In Eighty Days, Phileas Fogg started and ended his journey there.

I know, but I cannot resist ribbing Niall about his trappings of poshness.
Gentlemen's clubs, that's like something out of a 1930's novel.
And I'd rather imagine people paddling each other's bottoms with paddles and making a very tall newbie bend over the seat by the fire, looking like a folded parasol, than the boring stuff that must be going on there (apart from the fierce maintenance of the old-boys' network).

Indeed they are. Jackets and ties must be worn at all times, and mobile phones are fine as longa as they are carefully hidden from the staff must not be used inside the building. It's a shame I didn't have my cameraphone with me, though - it's an impressive place.

For the record, I was there for work, attending an oncologists' meeting.

Still, I rather like the "unapologetically nihilistic commercial blockbuster." But I would hardly call the idea 'new'. ;-)
