So, that's it. We're done. Angel is ended.

When Buffy ended, [livejournal.com profile] pikelet wrote a long and excellent post about what it meant and why. I can't do that right now; I can't find the words. I'm working on something for [livejournal.com profile] greengolux' fanzine, and I've posted my review to umta (5x21|5x22), and it's worth acknowledging one more time that if this show had never been then I wouldn't be here now, and I wouldn't know most of you, and god knows that's a huge deal, but beyond that...I'm at a loss.

For now, I'll just say that it ended well, and maybe that will be enough.

Too bad...

I remember being enthralled by television series like that, but alas, there is nothing like that on TV now, and I doubt I'd have the time for such a series if it were to come along.

Buffy was always too close to the high school drama formula to interest me much, and that set the stage for little Angel interest on my part.

That, and since about 2001, I've been finding the whole vampire concept quite tired.

So the fact that the very first episode of Angel contained a prominent use of the line 'high school's over, bud' didn't convince you, huh? ;-)

That, and since about 2001, I've been finding the whole vampire concept quite tired.

Maybe, but it's not so much about vampires. I mean, obviously, he is one, and every now and then it becomes a plot point, but the main focus of the show is elsewhere.

In a way, I think that makes it worse ... Angel therefore has even less to differentiate itself from run-of-the-mill dramas at the one end (dare I say "O.C."?), and serial fantasy on the other (say, "Charmed").

Apart from being nothing like either of those shows in either style or content, sure. :-p

Style...? Well, besides slight different variations in expression, it's still mostly pretty white people doing pretty white people things, with shares of violence and romantic drama to keep the audience entertained and watching advertisements. ;-)

Just wanted to say that I read Swisstone's entry and agreed wholeheartedly with you.

Closure can kiss my ass.
