I still really like Eels. The popular beat combo, that is.

Bad news for Jon Courtenay Grimwood fans. First the Arabesks were in this style, then this style, and now the paperback of Felaheen is going to look like this. It's a reasonable enough cover, but unless I'm much mistaken it means that the only way to get a complete, matched set is to search out copies of the original hardbacks.

EDIT: The suggestion that the Felaheen cover is non-matching has been challenged. Personally, I still think it looks different enough that if I was going to buy them, it would bug me. I think it's the sky that does it.

Life expectancy test; apparently, I'm going to live until I'm ninety, or thereabouts. I'm a little surprised that the test doesn't ask how much fruit and veg you eat except in the context of replacing meat, and also intrigued that 'do you have a relative who lived until they were 90?' has more of an impact on my result than 'do you smoke?'

Also from the Beeb, the 'End of Story' competition, in which members of the public get the chance to write the second half of short stories started by Ian Rankin, Joanne Harris, Alexei Sayle, Sue Townsend and others. The official site will at some point apparently be here.

'Star Wars Episode III: The Creeping Fear'? Y'know, I can almost see it. It does sound alarmingly like something George Lucas might actually choose.

Picture of the day. Runner up.

It's impossible to adequately predict the end of an Alexei Sayle story. But it'll be interestng to see people try.

Yes - and it's not entirely clear whether the competition is for people to try to match the 'real' ending, or for them to come up with their own ending.

The Creeping Fear???

If ever the forces of good were going to rise up and smack Lucas around the chops, this is surely the time.

*sigh*.

It has the same pulp flavour as 'The Phantom Menace' and 'The Attack of the Clones', so on that basis it sounds plausible. But it's a rumour, not an official announcement, so don't get too worked up just yet. ;-)

It's WAY worse than either of those.

I think Rise of the Empire is an excellent title (obviously Rise of the Clones would have been treading on Arnie's toes ;). Hope they go with that instead.

86 for me. Whatever health benefits I may be getting from the job, it's abundantly clear to me that the stress and poor diet is promotes for yours truly can't be doing me much good.

I'm also a little surprised that living by the motorway as I do doesn't impose a higher health degradation value.

The covers clearly match, you fool. 'Match' does not mean 'be identical to'.

I get 84.4 years. This is your life, and it's ending, one minute at a time.

SW3 should be called 'The Empire Strikes'.

HTH. HAND.

Oh. Covers. Just the fluff, then.
