Either you've all missed the most obvious pick or have no taste...

If you were planning to suggest Bowie, I may mock you forever.

It is *entirely* your fault that I have 'Eve of the War' running through my head and even more your fault that I have just order the CD!

I have two questions. Who is Jeff Wayne, and what does 'Ullaaaaaa' have to do with SF?

You don't know who Jeff Wayne is? You really don't have a clue about *any* music pre-1990 do you?

War of the Worlds you f001!

:p

Again with the 'Niall has no taste' theme.

'War of the Worlds' is very good. Admittedly nothing Jeff Wayne has done since has been any good at all (erg - Sparticus with Catharine Zeta Jones *shudder*) - but Richard Burton as narrator = \0/

Tempting as it is to offload all knowledge to Google, I can't believe you didn't know "Ulla" was from War of the Worlds. CLUELESS N00B!

Cross-post this to instant_fanzine, I say.

And I did not know you were a fan of gay dad - that's scary :)

I might do a meta linking-to-everyone's list when Alex has posted his. Maybe even a poll! :)

'Fan' might be overstating it! Although I suppose I do own the second album that nobody paid any attention too. They have a couple of good songs.

I saw them live when I was still at school. They were quite rockin', if memory serves...

Oooh, am very tempted to join in and create a compilation significantly different from what everyone else has chosen... :)
Hoggy will almost certainly hate it.

The only one i'd add:

The Chemical Brothers - Come With Us ("Come with us ... and
leave your earth behind!")

Well, and i've got loads of techno-type music that would fit, i expect.
