Being a fan is hard work, sometimes.

In about eight hours, the first episode of Angel S4 airs on US TV. Obviously, I need to see it before that happens; partly because there's no chance I'd be able to resist spoiling myself, but mostly just because it's cool to be able to watch these things first.

This is made possible by the miracle of the wildfeed. The wildfeed is the satellite upload of episodes to US TV affiliates; knowledgeable individuals can intercept these transmissions, which take place several hours before broadcast, and put the episodes up on the net. For Buffy, wildfeed distribution is smooth and efficient; it has been a long while since I saw an episode after its US airing. For Angel, things are a bit more hit and miss - and more so this time around, because the show has moved to a new night and nobody really knew when the wildfeed was going out.

But around the middle of this afternoon, it showed up. And certain people, who will remain nameless but have my eternal thanks, have been sending it to me. There have been a couple of hiccups, but it's all here now. It just needs to be burnt to CD, and then...well, then it's the start of a new season.

I'm currently rewatching the last season finale, which was disappointing (he said euphamistically), in an attempt to lower my expectations. Unfortunately, since I haven't watched any episodes at all for about two months, all it's doing is reminding me how much I love this show, even when it's below par. And yes, I know it's geeky to get this excited about a TV show, but I Just Don't Care.

So here we are: T minus ten minutes, and counting.
