[livejournal.com profile] hawleygriffen -- write an award-winning book
[livejournal.com profile] xsabx -- Write some Science Fiction
[livejournal.com profile] veggiesu -- Write your NaNoWriMo novel

Writing was a popular option. I figure that either you guys all want to read things I write, or you want to keep me off the streets, or you couldn't think of anything else to suggest. :)

[livejournal.com profile] applez -- Chase crazy women!

I dunno. I just think that on my holiday I should be branching out, y'know? Trying new things.

[livejournal.com profile] korovyov_x -- Take huge amounts of drugs and drive to Las Vegas

Maybe not that new.

[livejournal.com profile] autodidactic -- Naughty things involving whipped cream.

Ah, chance'd be a fine thing.

[livejournal.com profile] ajp -- It's a lovely Autumn - so take a nice walk in the woods.

Now, that sounds like an excellent suggestion.

[livejournal.com profile] snowking -- Clean my flat. And bring me women.

Whereas this is just hopelessly optimistic. You think I know where to find women?

[livejournal.com profile] immortalradical -- Set up a kooky supernatural detective agency and never get any clients.

SITUATIONS VACANT

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT. The successful candidate will be honest, loyal, and fashionable. Must share the company vision. Flexible working hours available.

RESEARCHER. Minimum 2 years experience, with referees. Must have comprehensive knowledge of the paranormal. Marksmanship skills a plus.

Any takers?

[livejournal.com profile] despotliz -- Grow a beard.

I could be the wild man of Berkshire! Or not.

[livejournal.com profile] fba -- Watch all those DVDs and VHS's that you have borrowed and critque them on LJ.

I'm sensing impatience. :-p

[livejournal.com profile] gagravarr -- Throw a dinner party

Well, are you free?

[livejournal.com profile] itchyfidget -- Cook, clean, chill.

Sounds good. Apart from the cleaning.

[livejournal.com profile] chasewisdom -- Build the sand castle to end all sand castles

"That's not a sandcastle, mate. That is a sandcastle."

damn. missed out. i mean in the honest, loyal, and fashionable dept., I score a whole 1 out of 3. which isn't at all bad.

wouldn't be any openings for rambling kooky people who come up with an occassional dues-ex-machina solution?

My CV's pretty damn hot on the admin skills front (see! being OUSFG secretary for two years was worth soemthing!) and it's pretty good on the research side too (academia, yay!). (Seriously, almost all the jobs I went for during my year out were admin/research related. It's what I'm good at.)

I've got the ancient language skills and knowledge of archaic cults/ religions/myths to boot.

The down side might be that I'm entirely non-violent and go a bit pale when faced with shooting/fighting, but hey, I am really good at diffusing violent situations and negotiating non-violent solutions to problems.

How about a job share? You do the research, and I'll do the science bit and the ass-kicking.

Dammit, beat me to it. Let me know if you need a temp.

Alternatively, are there any other philosophically inclined scholars of the ancient and obscure who want to go into business out there?

Hmmm...it's probably a bad thing that the first thing that came to mind were several anime series... hmmm....

of a 'supernatural detective agency'

but what comes most to mind is something like Yu Yu Hakusho. I have to confess I don't know these shows terribly well, I don't watch them all that often.

[livejournal.com profile] hawleygriffen may in fact be referring to another show.

More recently, there was another similiar anime I saw recently, 3 Hong Kong bookworm sisters who have mystical paper powers, and end up becoming the bodyguards for a reclusive Japanese author. I'm fairly sure I posted a review on my LJ...the name of the show is...Read or Dream TV/R.O.D. TV

I think we need a poll. Dan Fillion in tight-panted suits: dodgy Lorne clone or not? I vote not.
