The Great S2 Struggle Begins

I read this guide to the concepts behind object-oriented programming, which seemed to make some kind of sense. I then went to read the Livejournal S2 style documentation, which appears to only really make sense if you already know how to program. So, now I need to get from concepts to code, probably in Perl, Java or Python, since those are the three languages namechecked as being the basis of S2.
