Saturday was one of those days when I did a lot of things without really planning to. I went to see Spirited Away at the Phoenix (it really is almost as good as everyone says it is), discovered [livejournal.com profile] tinyjo had uncancelled her barbeque so stayed awhile for that, then headed off to Reading for Leo's birthday drinks (followed by a late-night trip back to the flat he's just moved into with Lyndsey, which turns out to be very nice indeed). Sunday was much quieter; I read the paper, watched the Animatrix and read a few more chapters of The Master And Margarita (apologies to [livejournal.com profile] korovyov_x for taking so long with this; it's just that I'm finding that if I'm to have any hope at all of achieving a reasonable comprehension of what I'm reading, I have to tackle it in small chunks only. As conciliation, I offer links to e-texts of other Bulgarkov work).

Now, a new week. This evening I should be off to Oxford to see KTB, hopefully via [livejournal.com profile] oxfordslacker's residency at the Temple Bar. And if I'm very very lucky, on wednesday or thursday I get to travel to Cardiff to look at wounds like these.

I went to see it last Friday and loved it. I'm assuming the Phoenix would have shown the subtitled and not the dubbed version. I saw subtitled and was glad. Hate dubbing.

Yep, it was the subbed version. They are showing the dubbed version for a few matinees, but that's probably fair enough.

The only thing about it that didn't quite ring true was the '...and I knew you ten years ago but I forgot!' aspect of the romance. Other than that, all lovely.

Eh?

If you mean the river dragon spirit ... he forgot because of the spell of that Babayagar character.

It's magic! (TM) ;-)

So, can you trust my anime reviews in future then? I try not to mislead my friends. :-)

And Chihiro? Why did she forget? It just felt a little unnecessary, is all...

And I always trust your reviews. I'm just not going to sit through 324 hours of Evangelion.

Tsk tsk tsk

1. Her not remembering ... but that is so childlike, I felt it added authenticity to the character.

2. Evangelion - you don't know what you're missing...you must go through that sacred anime rite. ;-) Anyway, you don't have to sit through it all in one go.
