Via [livejournal.com profile] toastie, a six degrees of separation experiment.
The small world project is an online experiment to test the idea that any two people in the world can be connected via 'six degrees of separation.'

Your objective is to get a message to a 'target person,' somewhere in the world, by forwarding the message to a friend of yours - someone who is 'closer' to the target than you are.

Some things are just cool.

From the BBC article:

In their experiment, the scientists recruited 61,168 individuals and ...

Built a cyborg army and tried to take over the world!

... asked them to try to relay messages to one of 18 target people in 13 countries.

These people are a disgrace to scientists everywhere.
