The New York Review of Books compares comics to music:
Comic books, the rock 'n' roll of literature, have always been a rigorously disreputable form of junk art for adolescents of body or mind. Hyper-energetic, crude, sexually regressive, and politically simplistic, comics—like rock (and, in recent years, hip-hop)— give fluent voice to their audience's basest and most cynical impulses. These are their virtues, arguably, as outlets for emotional release and as social counteragents.

It's an interesting enough piece, although even I can tell it's not exactly dealing with the cutting edge of comics. Still, it might give me a conversation-starter at [livejournal.com profile] caption this weekend.

In other news, flash mobs have arrived in San Francisco. I think [livejournal.com profile] applez should get involved.

Oh, so the New York Review of Books gives it the thumbs up and NOW you want to read Palestine. Pfft.

Also, I forgot to tell you there's a London Flash Mobs site but it's on geoshitties so whenever I try to look at it, they've exceeded their transfer limit blah blah blah.

No, the NYRoB comments on it and reminds me to prod you to lend it to me. Do you have to be abusive on every entry I make to LJ? :-p

I also provided information! Do me an i_f piece and I'll forgive you and be all nice.

I'll probably force Luther Arkwright onto you as well, in a 2 for 1 loaning combo.

...or the cutting edge of Rock'n'Roll, for that matter....

Well, that too. :-)

(What is the cutting edge of rock n' roll these days, anyway? Don't try to tell me it's The Vines or The White Stripes...maybe it's still Radiohead. [livejournal.com profile] brassyn would know.)

Flash mobs

Yeah, is cute, might do, but generally I'm so wiped after work I just want to go home, zap the brain with advertisement-laden programming, and then crawl into bed.

Thankfully, 'getting laid' is no longer a massive imperative, I just need a flight to Switzerland. :-)

On scrolling back up my friends page, I misread that as "Flash moobs".
Must. wash. out. mind. with. bleach.
And then kill Hoggy. And Tags.
