A sunday in Oxford; ah, memories of sunny student days.
The people were different: This was an outing for those bookshop folk, and friends. We arrived at lunchtime, to witness the spectacle that was the Cowley Road Carnival, and discover that the ticket dispensers in Tesco's car park were fortuitously out of order. This was followed by picnic and frisbee antics in St Hilda's (courtesy of one of the friends). In the summer, you're either a football type or a frisbee type, and never the twain shall meet. Later on, we punted - or rather, I punted, being the only one present who knew how. Everbody else seemed content to be punted rather than attempt to punt, which was fine - I like punting - except having not punted for a year, I now ache in a variety of interesting places. The river was packed, as you might expect, although heading north through the Fellow's Gardens things quieted down. Nobody fell in. Dinner was at Kazbar, and tasty although possibly a touch too spicy for the weather. A quick trip to G&D's, and it was time to head home, in the light of the most incredible blood-red moon I've ever seen.
All in all, a good weekend.
