"Funny. You'd think, with all the books I've stickered and destickered, that I wouldn't be able to remember every...single...one."

Yes, it's that time again. All the december promotions have ended, all the january promotions are beginning, so today was almost exclusively spent stickering and destickering. My fingers still have gummy residue all over them; I'm not sure it's ever going to come off completely.

Fortunately the stickers we use aren't all that gummy. I think it's so they peel easily off the books without damaging the covers. But it also means that they can, on certain covers, decide to peel off spontaneously and leave themselves lying around the nice neat display that has just been set up.

We have run out of sale stickers already.

hmm, sounds an awful lot like my job.
except not so much the destickering (as per the new manager's instructions, so it's a first), just the stickering.
i'm fed up of sale stock.

Our stickers are also easy-peel. They come off all books with no problems except Possession, by A S Byatt, which has some kind of bizarre shiny covering. When you pull the sticker off a copy of Possession, the shiny comes too.

We don't really have a sale as such, we just have January promotions. We don't have piles of unwanted stock we're trying to flog, anyway.

In a strangely helpful move, Waterstone's are now getting almost all the sale stock to arrive pre-stickered :)

And they're just letting us over-sticker or leave xmas offers on for most of January, so destickering is rather rare at the moment, just the odd bits of stickering of unsold xmas stock, or stock that the warehouses missed (a bit too often).

Other than that, eek, refit hell in 5 weeks, so long as they DON'T cancel the refit again, they've only done it every time for years...
