Voting for the 2005 Reader's Choice Awards will be open February 13-March 17. Please let us know your favorites of the pieces we published last year! All voters will be entered into a prize drawing, and winners will receive a Booksense or Amazon gift certificate. You can vote in all categories or only a few (or just one).

Each of the first place artists and authors will receive $25, second place $15, and third place $10. The winners of the Readers' Choice Awards will be announced next month at Strange Horizons. Stay tuned!
Go here. Obviously, I love all the reviews equally, but here are some of my favourite articles and stories from last year. Articles:
Stories:Of course, there are plenty more I could have picked, so go browse. And vote!

When Matt Cheney approached me on the symposium, I about died and went to heaven. He basically offered me a two-parter article, pre-edited, on a topic I'd been hoping to see covered but had yet to find a good author for.

The Barzak / Kobayashi piece was similarly out of the blue, as was the Hasson piece.

Jamneck has been doing interviews for us for years, and we've never been disappointed. McManus was, likewise, not a stranger.

We just formed the Committee To Elect Tim's Lego Star Wars Review.

I think that one may be just the one I meant. My, it's good, isn't it?

I am disappointed by the lack of links in your comment.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will win by links alone.

I have discovered a flaw in this electoral process.

dude. you have a *pimp hat*

You know, that story is going to make me freaking famous, and all I did was hit the lottery with it in the predictive-SF sweepstakes. And I feel kind of bad about it, too.

This is a bloody odd business.

If it's any consolation, on my list of reasons for liking it the fact that it's predictive is way down the bottom.

Actually, that's very comforting. *g*

Yes. It's a bit of a shame he's back to long books (one of the things I liked about Forty Signs of Rain was that it was only 330 pages or so), and don't go in expecting the amount of Big Science you get in the Mars books, but definitely worth reading.

The hat - i'd been assuming this was a Spaceward Ho reference. Is it really just the SH planet in a pimp hat?

And - just when you thought it was safe to go back into the vacuum - sharks in spaaace! The dude's pirate fleet is also rather good.
