Ariel has announced, in a lengthy post in which he explains his reasons in some detail, that he's going to wind down and eventually close The Alien Online as a reviews outlet. It's not just due to the reaction to That Review, although I get the impression it was a straw breaking the camel's back. The news section of the site will continue, and he'll be blogging his own stuff (both good things), and I wish all the best to those endeavours, but I can't deny that I'm sad to see the reviews go.

Yeah. I disagree on that issue but I can't disagree on his reasons for stopping.

I've been meaning to chat to him for some time about possibly merging DiverseBooks.com and The Alien Online. I am feeling less inclined to work on DiverseBooks for personal reasons you may guess. I wish I had done so some time ago...

Work commitments mean that I cannot fully respond to this before Monday. Bugger.
