Boiler Troubles
Sep. 30th, 2003 11:22 pmThe thing you have to understand about the heating system in my flat is that it is (a) odd and (b) old. The odd part is that it's an entirely heat-on-demand system; no hot water tank at all, just a boiler slaved to the needs of the kitchen, bathroom and central heating. The old part is that the boiler was installed in 1984.
So it's not all that much of a surprise that it's given up the ghost. The pilot lights just fine, but it won't stay lit; according to Louise's Dad, who Would Know, it's probably something to do with the valve. Anyway, the upshot is that I've got no hot water, so being the wuss that I am I have decamped to my parents' house for the night, and shall call the appropriate people tomorrow.
(I should point out that my parents, at this point, are still on holiday...)
It's not that big of a deal. I mean, it's not as if various people have been telling me to get the boiler checked out for the past three months...
