Given that at 11:30 last night I was in the centre of Birmingham with [livejournal.com profile] pikelet, [livejournal.com profile] immortalradical, [livejournal.com profile] wg, [livejournal.com profile] danmilburn and Jane, I'm somewhat amazed that I made it to work at all, never mind in a state that appears to be at least vaguely coherent. Great evening, though; it was good to finally meet [livejournal.com profile] immortalradical and discover that, like everyone else I've met from umta in real life, he's just as cool as he is online. How one newsgroup managed to attract so many great people is beyond me, but I'm not complaining.

I also say he looks like Nathan Fillion, but I seem to be on my own on that one.

It was a great weekend all around, actually, if utterly exhausting. I have thoughts on my first Eastercon (fandom, SF, awards and authors) roiling around in my brain right now. Hopefully they'll coalesce into something coherent later on. Meanwhile, it was good to put faces to names for [livejournal.com profile] sbisson, [livejournal.com profile] hawkida and others; frankly baffling to be identified from one audience as 'the David Boreanaz wannabie'; and excellent, as always, to spend time with [livejournal.com profile] greengolux, [livejournal.com profile] oxfordslacker, [livejournal.com profile] truecatachresis, [livejournal.com profile] squigglyruth, Damien and [livejournal.com profile] cleanskies.

Plus, y'know, spending obscene amounts on books never gets old.

And just so we're clear: We're all going to Worldcon in 2005. Yes, all of us. Got that?

Good.

Actually, I think the guy called you 'the Angel wannabe'. I think there's a difference?

This is based entirely on the coat, yes? He wasn't posing on rooftops again, was he?

Because my friends decided my long black coat meant I was a)Angel b)Mulder c)Silent Bob and d)about to turn up with a machine gun and kill everyone.

I didn't have my coat with me. It seemed to be based mostly on my hair. Stop laughing.

And I really thought it was David Boreanaz and not Angel, myself. Hmm.

I can't. Seriously. I'm glad everyone else in the office has gone out to the pub.

Go us!

I also say he looks like Nathan Fillion, but I seem to be on my own on that one.

Right. Was he wearing tight pants, or something?

And just so we're clear: We're all going to Worldcon in 2005. Yes, all of us. Got that?

Duh. Was planning on that since I heard it was gonna be in Glasgow. Can we reg for it already? Haven't checked site in a while..

Was he wearing tight pants, or something?

It was something in the nose. And the hair. And the fact that he swore profusely in mandarin.

One of those is not true.

Can we reg for it already?

Yes. And, indeed, save money by doing so.

There were no tight pants to be seen. Or, if there were, I clearly wasn't looking closely enough. But, yes, there was a short debate about my resemblance to NF, which went something like this:

NIALL: Cor, he looks like that Nathan Fillion fellow!
TIM: No. He doesn't.
NIALL: ... He says 'cast' and not 'carst.'

So there you go.

Lemme guess. He has no nose?

Yes. And, indeed, save money by doing so.

How much is it anyway?

You say the sweetest things, Niall. Captain Reynolds would have you on his crew any day.

And no, you can't have my share of the winnings.

I can see a faint suggestion of one in your user pic. Hair's nothing like Cap'n Tightpants though.

Has anyone mentioned what our team name in the quiz was yet? And how we cheered at the appropriate time when they read out the rankings at the end of each round?
