Ha! I was just about to do this poll...

[identity profile] coalescent.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
Too slow!

[identity profile] secritcrush.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
You could always do the one where you ask if they work as SF or not.

[identity profile] coalescent.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
After I so carefully left that question out? :p

[identity profile] secritcrush.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
Martin likes slapfights more than you do, though.

[identity profile] pigeonhed.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
They are SF novels therefore that question is implicit in GOOD or BAD

[identity profile] secritcrush.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
But how will a slapfight about this start with that attitude?

Post-modernism

[identity profile] pigeonhed.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
We could have a slapfight about whether we should have a slapfight?

Re: Post-modernism

[identity profile] secritcrush.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Are there people who question the need for slapfights?

Re: Post-modernism

[identity profile] twic.myopenid.com (from livejournal.com) 2007-06-08 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
We CLEARLY don't need a slapfight about this, and i DENY anyone to say otherwise.

Answers based entirely on stuff said by Martin and Liz by the way, since I haven't read any of the three.

[identity profile] despotliz.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Surely this is entirely consistent with the spirit of GOOD or BAD?

[identity profile] coalescent.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
But he also answered the non GOOD-or-BAD questions.

[identity profile] talvalin.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
So in a mixed poll, I should only answer the GOOD-BAD questions? Feh.

[identity profile] frogworth.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
WHAT?! C'mon, the whole idea is that you answer the questions, regardless.

I do know that TTTL is awesome. Haven't read the others, but have read other people's opinions.

[identity profile] ninebelow.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
That's the spirit!

Wait a minute, how come you have said NLMG is your favourite then?

[identity profile] ninebelow.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
In fact you've ignored everything I've said. As usual.

[identity profile] despotliz.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
I see you have sneakily changed your best book answer to agree with me.

[identity profile] talvalin.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hush there at the back.

[identity profile] secritcrush.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
My opinion doesn't count?

see why you are suspect!

I have only read one of the three. This makes that one clearly the best.

[identity profile] veggiesu.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Should I be worried that we are thinking exactly alike?

[identity profile] buymeaclue.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
No. It just means my mind-control device is working at last.

[identity profile] frandowdsofa.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
It helps if you think of Oh Pure and Radiant Heart as a satirical comedy of manners rather than an SF book, I only clocked that about a third of the way in and it got immeasurably better.

[identity profile] truecatachresis.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think it would probably help if you just burnt OP&RH before reading it.

[identity profile] lasultrix.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing I should stop feeling sad that I've only read two of the three, then?

[identity profile] coalescent.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have time to break the numbers down fully, but it looks like, compared to the other two, more of those who read and liked Oh Pure and Radiant Heart liked it the best of the three, and more of those who read and disliked it disliked it the most -- ie it's a book people love or hate. Which, to be fair, I knew based on conversations with people. :)

[identity profile] pigeonhed.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I just add that I think all three are excellent books, beautifully written and very moving. Picking a 'worst' is meaningless really.

[identity profile] i-ate-my-crusts.livejournal.com 2007-06-11 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I *like* you.
